We're going to be interviewing the fellow who won the Bidfire "Record A Song With Switchfoot" contest in a few days - have any questions for him? If so, send us to them via e-mail at jeanna@landofbrokenhearts.org - Thanks! (Note: He's already recorded with the guys. They re-recorded the song "Your Love Is A Song")
And while you're thinking up questions, LOBH is going to be interviewing the fine folks over at JHS Pedals - they're responsible for a LOT of Drew's set up, and created a lot of the customs that the guys used to record Hello Hurricane. Not being a musical person myself, I was hoping some of you more "gear savvy" fans could submit some questions - anything you want to know about Switchfoot's set up? Gear? Pedals?
Radio station THE RIVER posted a video of Jon and Drew backstage at the SPAC show yesterday:

Switchfoot played Chi-town on Tuesday night and we've got some concert goods to share! First up, the setlist: Needle + Haystack Life Mess of Me This Is Your Life Your Love Is A Song Surrender The Sound On Fire Meant to Live Dare You To Move
Here are some stellar photos by our friend Daez. View the full set HERE and some of my personal favorites below: Yo Tim, digging the suspenders friend.
Caption This! Remember, you can view the full set HERE. (Thanks Daez!)
Speaking of, here's the Detroit setlist, courtesy of our friend Frank: Needle & Haystack Life Mess of Me Stars Surrender Meant To Live Your Love Is A Song The Sound On Fire/High and Dry Dare You To Move
There was a funny little moment from the Detroit show that I thought you guys would enjoy - Switchfoot has played their hit "Meant to Live" probably THOUSANDS of times over the years, but even such a practiced song can get a bit botched. (In all fairness, the guys are so used to Jon throwing them curves, when he went up to sing early, I think they thought he was going to talk, and slowed the music down - but WAY to recover guys!)
Some great photos from this show have been posted on Flickr by Chris Schwegler of www.schwegweb.com. View the full set HERE. Photo credit: Chris Schwegler. www.schwegweb.com
HearItFirst posted a new video with Jon and Drew, discussing The Sound and writing for The Huffington Post. Click HERE to watch it!
How are "The Sound" and "Your Love Is A Song" performing on the charts? Our friends at We're Awakening have the scoop:
"The Sound" has entered the Top 20 of Billboard's Alternative charts, settling in this week at No. 19 in it's 10th week. For comparison purposes, "Mess of Me" was No. 21 at this same point, so we are ahead of schedule!
On Christian Rock, "The Sound" bows out of the No. 1 throne after a two-week run, falling to No. 5.
"Your Love Is a Song" is experiencing consistent growth on all formats, jumping three spots on Christian CHR 15-12 and on the National Christian Songs chart, the song jumps back up from 35-33.
On the Mainstream Hot AC format, "Your Love Is a Song" is featured as a "New and Active Song," while Mediabase reports it sitting at No. 48 this week. Awesome work fans! Keep requesting The Sound and Your Love Is A Song (click those links for a station list) at your local radio station - but remember to keep it classy! One request a day at the most; several requests a week. Be respectful of the stations.
Our friends at We're Awakening also posted this great news piece on the Karl Denson/Jon Foreman song "The Drums of War" (This was released over a year ago, so if you missed the song/news when it first came out, you can still purchase the album HERE.) I couldn't locate the source post for this, but enjoy!: And arena rock fans will be pleasantly surprised by the appearance of Jon Foreman, the singer, songwriter and guitarist for alternative rock band Switchfoot. Foreman wrote and sings on the provocative “The Drums of War.”
“Jon and I have been friends for a while. We messed around with writing songs together,” Denson said. “He had written ‘The Drums of War' and offered it to me.”
“Drums of War” is a perfect integration of soul and rock with both Foreman and Denson sharing vocals. Thematically it's akin to Bob Dylan's “With God on Our Side,” without the cynicism. Switchfoot is known for bringing their Christianity into the rock arena and that is how Denson interpreted the song.
“To me the song was spiritual. I didn't see it as political,” Denson said. “But as a Christian I was frustrated with the hubris of the (political) right. If you seriously love your brother you can't justify the war. If we spent the money for war on humanitarian efforts in those countries, what would happen?”
Together Denson and Foreman wrote the most infectious song on the CD, “Mighty Rebel.” Its theme is also spiritual but the music is roots reggae. It's about a war in which “love is a gun.”
“I had an idea for the melody, and I had notes from a sermon I had just heard,” Denson said. “Jon was reading some newly found quotes by Martin Luther King and some of his other writings. We put our heads together on that level, with those ideas.”
Music website Indie Vision Music has posted a poll asking fans "Who is your Favorite Band overall?" Switchfoot is currently in 1st, so hop on over there and cast your vote! Simply click HERE and scroll down to mid-page for the poll. (Thanks JesusFreak!)
Disney actress Debby Ryan (from the show Suite Life on Deck and the movie 16 Wishes), who is also a Switchfoot/Jon Foreman fan, mentioned Jon on her tumbler: ^ Ha! Love it. (Thanks JesusFreak!)
It's hard to believe that 2004 was 6 years ago, but it's true... so therefore, check out this "vintage" video of the guys playing at San Diego's annual Winterfest concert in 2004 - it's always fun to watch "old school videos". (It's strange that THIS is old school - this is almost right around the time I started listening to the guys.)
