She also sent in the setlist and notes with video!:

The guys were awesome, the crowd…not so much. Jon is always so gracious and thanked 91X, expressing how it’s a dream that he gets to play an event, for a station he grew up listen to. And of course, he was the only artist of the night to travel out into the crowd, ending up way over in the lower deck, singing out, while wearing someone’s Charger hat and then switching to a Padres hat. nice.

One of the biggest highlights of the night, is when Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of DMC, pulled Drew on stage to join them in ‘Walk This Way’. (Drew’s over to the far left of the stage) So cool! I caught it on video, along with Switchfoot playing a new cover, ‘Been Caught’ by Jane’s Addiction.

The set list in order was: Mess of Me, Sabotage, Meant to Live, Dare You to Move, Been Caught (Jane’s Addiction cover), Dark Horses and Nothing is Sound.

Check out these AWESOME videos of Drew playing with DMC and then Switchfoot’s cover of “Been Caught Stealing”!

We mentioned Sean above – he posted some Fiction Family teases on his twitter:

^ So ready for that new FF album!

It’s always fun to get music playlists from the guys’, and Chad recently shared a music VIDEO playlist with AltPress – so rad! Check it out right HERE and enjoy the videos!:

Altpress.com has once again teamed up with cull.tv to bring you another video playlist. This week, we’ve got a playlist curated by Switchfoot drummer Chad Butler. Here’s what he had to say about his choices:

“Making a music video is so much fun! It’s a chance for musicians to give a song some context or just  be ridiculous on camera. A good music video can make you fall in love with the song or hear it in a completely different light. These are some of my favorites!”

Check out the playlist, with videos from the White Stripes, OK Go, Foo Fighters and more here.

Don’t forget to vote in the Design for Switchfoot hoodie contest! There’s just 2 days left for voting! Click HERE to choose your favorite!

Well said Wendi: “The guys were awesome, the crowd…not so much.” Nice photos too! Wendi, how did you like the $20 dollar parking fee? Given the other bands they played with, it certainly was a different crowd than what you would normally find at a Switchfoot concert. Still, there were plenty of us there to give our support. I was surprised at the sophomoric imbecility of Blink-182 and their incessant scatalogical humor. It was just unbelievable. Switchfoot was great from start to finish as always. The set was necessarily shorter given that they were playing with several bands. Each was alloted about 25 min. Everything else was way overpriced. I’m still recovering from the stimuli of it all 24 hours later.

    1. Wendi

Wes, I agree…I feel like I’m still recovering too. I have to say that during Blink’s performance, I tried to focus on the amazing talents of Travis Barker, instead of the vulgar language coming from Mr. Delong. Unfortunately, I think they did tone it down a little. So, I guess, um…thank you??
It was pretty awesome when DMC stomped around the stage yelling, “Yo, where’s Drew at?” I loved it! Looked like Drew did too.
One thing that stood out in my mind is how the guys of Switchfoot remain true to themselves, always so grateful and welcoming, no matter the audience. It was an interesting view from the stands. I saw the crowd change as they started to play. The moshing quit, only scattered handfuls of people seemed to be into it. What did you think about Jon having to ask for a response 3 times from the crowd, finally saying, “Come on. You can do better than that.”?
It was a strange crowd and strange night. When the guys came out on stage, it was almost comforting, like seeing an old friend in an unfamiliar place. Wes, good to know a few of us were out there to support them on Sunday! Even against the odds, they were stellar.

Wendi, I liked the rotating stage. Once Pennywise finished, they walked off the stage and then it rotated around 180 degrees and there was Switchfoot’s instruments all set up in their correct locations on the stage and ready to rock! It was an instantaneous transition. No down time between bands to set up equipment. That was a great moment. To answer your question: I thought, “well, I’m not surprised. Most of the crowd here is simply into other types of rock.” I had a ground floor ticket and was pretty close during Switchfoot’s set. It was a lot of fun. I was out in the lobby getting a drink when Drew played with DMC. I’m sorry I missed that. I’m glad you got it on video. I liked the acoustic intro to Dark Horses like Jon played at the Wiltern show in LA.

        1. Wendi

Yes, loved the rotating stages. Very time productive. What did you think of the Jane’s Addiction cover?
I was at the Wiltern show too. Now that was a fun crowd! I have a few videos posted on Youtube from the LA show. Just search ‘wendi4boys’ and they’ll come up. Fun chatting with you.

I was at 91x’s wrex the halls that day and I have to say that I loved it. Switchfoot of course was amazing and I didn’t see too much of the crowd cause I was front row but still, it was great. I believe from up above it looked tame but tons of people around me were singing along and I overheard lots of people saying it was way better than they expected, and they had no idea what to expect. Everybody around me thought they did amazing.

I know the music was different for a lot of people’s tastes but even Jon said he always used to hit up those Pennywise shows. I’m really happy switchfoot was able to play with all those bands. And I got there early enough I didn’t have to pay for parking and made friends that kept my spot in line while I got to see 91X interview Jon, Tim & Chad. Got pictures with them too! They’re always such nice guys. They even remembered the girls in pink again which was amazing. And I don’t mean to rant, but when you go to a show where Blink is headlining it will get crazy. And there is profanity but it’s a 91x show, it’s going to happen. Blink is still spectacular live, thats just the way they always run their show. Im a huge fan so i knew that was what their set would be like though, so it wasnt weird for me at all. Pennywise was my downfall, i was right next to the speakers and the people behind me started a monster fight. Not fun… Hahahhaa.

But all in all. An amazing show with a great lineup. It’s not for everybody but it was definitely expected. Ticket prices were insane but Stubhub was my friend and for 15 bucks and a front of the line pass I had a great view all night. Already excited for next year! Hopefully I’m home from college in time.

Jon sporting a shorter hair at the Wrex the Halls. I was thinking he would cut his hair like that of Chad.. But nah, Jon is Jon right.. :D

    And welcome, Justin!!!!

    1. famgirl

Never mind. The clue was actually quite cluey. And I kinda figured it was there.

Hey guys. I know this isn’t really the place to self-promote… But I’m running out of friends to vote for my design. (I kind of dislike the “poularity contest” nature of this competition, tbh) The design means a lot to me, so if I link you in and you like it, will you vote? I have an emoional investment in the design which would have me wanting to win regardless of what prizes are on offer. Thousand thankyous!

Justin and Jeanna! thanks SO much for uploading the acoustic version of Souvenirs!
    :D

    for the Big Bear show:
What I know is that it is being advertized by 98.7fm here in LA. I haven’t been hearing the station for a couple of days now, but when I was listening to it, they were giving out tickets. basically, they give you tickets to get lifted to the place where SF will be playing at because they are announcing that the show is free.
this is about all i know, and sorry if the info is wrong ;P. i suggest to listen to the station these next days for more info.

    1. Media

      No problem!!

    2. Wes M.

Isn’t the band stage at the bottom of the runs by the lodge? Maybe it is at the top where you would need to have a lift ticket for the day. I’m not sure. I’ve been to Bear Mountain several times but not when a band has been scheduled to play. It is a beautiful place and hopefully the weather will be good. This we do know: Bear Mountain is very crowded on a normal Saturday so you can imagine how much more crowded it will be when Switchfoot will be there this Saturday. The mountain road up the hill is long and narrow, making traffic slow. It will be a good idea to leave early in the morning (like 5am or 6) to get up there and not have to face full parking lots and possibly sold out lift tickets.

  11. Alex

    Welcome, Justin!

    1. Media

      Thanks, Alex!

  12. Kayla

Are ALL of those guys in the yellow shirts security in that Wrex the Halls picture? If so… Dang…

    1. Wendi

Yes – that was all security!

Beer + Pennywise + more Beer + Social Distruction + even more Beer + Blink 182 = lots and lots of security. They did a great job though!

  13. A Commentator

The real title should be, “New Switchfoot shows in SoCal.” Always get my hopes up when I see “CA” on an SF tour date, only to discover 3/4 that it’s actually hundreds of miles away from my Bay Area life. Oh well…they come by frequently enough that I have nothing to complain about.

  14. Mariana

If the “Hope Makes The Blood Change Courses” wins I will definitely buy that one :)

  15. Jonfreak

    Hey Jeanna,
What’s up with fifty-five this week (that was supposed to happen last week)?
    Thanks,
